' We were summoned to enter the grand hall at his villa (closer to a castle, really) after the majority of the invited guests had arrived. Just before we came down the staircase, the valet (Maitre'd? I don't know these things...) announced us. Being introduced as "Count and Countess Dracula" was certainly an odd feeling. Unsure of how to respond, I hesitated, but my lovely wife pulled me down the stairs. Yes, she certainly was my lovely wife. As we greeted the guests, many of whom had titles of some sort, and all of whom had serious money, several of the men looked at me with open envy. |
