Anyway, I packed up my clothes and some books and headed up to see when we would be leaving. Dad said right after school on Friday. IT was a 7 hour drive to Pittsburgh, and I have to admit, Back Lake looked really pretty in the fall. When we got to the cabin, Me and Uncle Fred started the fire and I cleaned up the place as best I could. Dad and Uncle Fred were drinking whiskey within a short time of our arrival. I knew they would be drunk before dinner was made. I cooked some hot dogs and beans and we ate them and then went to bed. 5 o'clock in the morning came real quick. I felt like I had gotten no sleep at all. Uncle Fred kept kidding dad about 2 legged Indian deer. I had no idea what he was talking about. They kept laughing and saying, "Shawny, we're gonna help you get a two legger!" I smiled and acted like I was enjoying myself in the cold fall air. |
