Jessica leaned forward and pushed her face through the hole. She was reminded of the kind of displays you might find at a country fair or beach boardwalk where you looked through a hole in a backdrop, on which was painted a caricature or character. The body could be a muscular man or a curvaceous woman, and the only human part visible was the participant's face. Only this was that same idea, taken to obscene extremes. The diameter of the hole was just enough to let the front part of her face protrude. The rim circled her skull just in front of her ears, and circled around the top of her head and the bottom of her chin and neck. She put her hands on her widely splayed knees, and blinked at the men standing before her. The other man went around to the front of the cone, producing a small paint brush. He dipped the brush in a jar of red paint. "Now, for the real target. Hold your head still." He proceeded to draw three circles on Jessica's trembling face. The first went around her chin, up her cheeks and across the middle of her forehead. The second moved in just about an inch or two, over the bridge of her nose and between her chin and lower lip. The third neatly surrounded her entire mouth and lips. "As you can see, you now are the perfect target. |
