The 8-mile scorching, sizzling barefoot "Punishment March" will be single file down the middle of the road on the center line. You will line up with the shortest inmate in front, tallest in back. Prisoners will be spaced AT LEAST six feet apart at all times during the march. As always, there will be no talking amongst you but feel free to moan, scream, whimper, and beg for mercy at any time. There is no penalty for that tomorrow. We LIKE to hear you suffer! As #226 wants it, there will be 20 guards making the trip to the airport to make sure that all of your poor, naked feet enjoy CONSTANT, UNBROKEN CONTACT with steaming hot asphalt for TWELVE CONTINUOUS HOURS!!! This will be closely monitored as there is a lot of work to get done. AT NO TIME WILL ANY OF YOUR FEET EVER LEAVE THE PAVEMENT! There will be plenty of drinking water for all of you as long as you squat flat-footed and put your mouth entirely over the nozzle as you swallow. This, too, will be carefully monitored. At 1:00, lunch will be served with all prisoners STANDING in the middle of the runway in formation the usual 3 feet apart. For the 30 minute period starting with the lunch whistle, NO INMATE WILL MOVE HER FEET FROM THE PAVEMENT FOR ANY REASON! You will ALL stand still and flatfooted for that period of time! It will be so unbearably hot on the blacktop by THAT time that you can probably expect to smell burning flesh! If you ALL make it through this agony to 5:00, you will be rewarded by being allowed to walk back to prison in the same manner you got there as opposed to being all dragged behind the trucks naked down the street. |
